School Psychologist | Arlington Heights, Illinois
Make a meaningful impact as a School Psychologist in a vibrant elementary setting, working with a supportive team committed to student growth and well-being. This contract opportunity runs from August 26, 2024, through June 10, 2025, and follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:15 am to 3:45 pm, aligning with the school calendar.
You will serve a diverse student body of approximately 380 elementary-aged learners, focusing on assessments, multidisciplinary teamwork, and targeted intervention. This position emphasizes collaboration and special education support rather than individual counseling or IEP therapy minutes, allowing you to contribute to school-wide initiatives and critical evaluation processes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid state credential in School Psychology
- Experience with elementary student populations preferred
- Strong assessment, data analysis, and report-writing skills
- In-depth understanding of IDEA, MTSS frameworks, and special education eligibility criteria
- Collaborative approach working with educators, families, and administrative leaders
- Familiarity with crisis response and intervention for students in need
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial and re-evaluations for special education eligibility alongside the building team
- Review academic and behavioral data for students within the MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) model
- Provide timely support and response for students experiencing crisis or urgent situations
- Assist the district with parochial school initial and reevaluations, working under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services
- Communicate findings and recommendations effectively with families and staff
- Contribute to a positive, proactive school culture through consultation and problem-solving
