School Psychologist in Arlington Heights, IL
Step into a fulfilling school-based psychology role, making a difference in the lives of students across elementary, middle, and high school levels. This full-time contract opportunity runs from August 26, 2026, through June 11, 2027, offering weekday schedules and the chance to positively impact young learners and their families.
You’ll be instrumental in supporting students through re-evaluations, eligibility meetings, functional behavioral assessments, and some initial assessments. There are tailored roles for both early childhood specialists (traveling between multiple preschools to support children ages 3–5 transitioning from early intervention) and K–4 psychologists (leading evaluations, facilitating MTSS meetings, and guiding teams through the IEP process).
Desired Qualifications:
- Active School Psychologist licensure in the state of Illinois.
- Experience working with students in a school setting (elementary, middle, and high school).
- Strong foundation in special education law and current best practices for assessments.
- Excellent communication skills—for collaboration with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to travel between multiple school sites (for early childhood caseload).
- Commitment to participating in and facilitating IEP meetings and evaluations.
- Passion for supporting students’ social-emotional and academic growth.
- Flexibility to adapt to varying caseloads and needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive student re-evaluations, initial assessments, and functional behavioral assessments.
- Facilitate problem-solving and data team meetings within MTSS frameworks.
- Serve as a liaison for families new to special education, fostering clear communication and understanding.
- Provide insightful recommendations grounded in assessment data.
