School Psychologist

Location: Cherokee, NC
Position Type: Full-Time, School-Based

A respected educational staffing agency is actively recruiting a School Psychologist for an exciting opportunity in Cherokee, North Carolina for the upcoming school year. We are seeking a dedicated professional who is passionate about supporting student achievement, emotional well-being, and academic success in a K-12 educational setting.

Position Overview

The School Psychologist will play a vital role in supporting students through psychological assessments, consultation services, intervention planning, and mental health support. This position requires close collaboration with educators, administrators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to help students reach their full potential while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Primary Responsibilities Psychological Assessments & Evaluations

  • Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for students referred for special education services.
  • Analyze assessment results and prepare accurate, thorough written reports.
  • Participate in eligibility determinations, IEP meetings, Section 504 meetings, and other multidisciplinary team discussions.
  • Utilize assessment data to guide educational planning and student support services.

Student Intervention & Mental Health Support

  • Design and implement evidence-based interventions targeting academic, behavioral, and social-emotional concerns.
  • Provide individual and small-group counseling services as appropriate.
  • Assist with crisis response efforts and student threat assessments when necessary.
  • Promote positive mental health and emotional wellness among students.

Collaboration & Consultation

  • Partner with teachers, administrators, parents, and related service providers to develop effective student support strategies.
  • Recommend accommodations, modifications, and behavioral interventions that enhance student success.
  • Serve as a resource for school staff regarding learning challenges, behavioral concerns, and mental health needs.

Compliance & Program Support

  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in accordance with IDEA, Section 504, and North Carolina educational regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with required evaluation timelines and procedural safeguards.
  • Support district and school initiatives aimed at improving student outcomes and service delivery.

School-Wide Prevention Initiatives

  • Participate in MTSS/RTI processes and contribute to data-driven decision-making.
  • Support programs that foster positive school climate, behavior, attendance, and student well-being.

Qualifications Required

  • Master's degree, Specialist degree, or Doctorate in School Psychology.
  • Current licensure through the North Carolina Psychology Board is required.
  • Valid North Carolina School Psychologist certification/licensure.
  • Knowledge of special education regulations, evaluation procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience serving K-12 student populations.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skill
  • Previous school-based experience.
  • Bilingual language skills are highly desirable.
