Embark on a rewarding contract role for the upcoming academic year, supporting students and teams across elementary, middle, and high schools in the Waukegan, IL region. This opportunity begins August 26, 2026, and continues through June 11, 2027, with full-time (Monday-Friday) and part-time options tailored to the needs of the district’s diverse student population. Active Illinois licensure is required for all applicants.
Several roles are available:
- Conduct re-evaluation reviews, eligibility meetings, functional behavioral assessments, and initial evaluations for students ranging from early childhood through high school.
- Early Childhood (0.6 FTE, 3 days/week): Screen and evaluate children ages 3–5 as they transition from early intervention, managing travel between three local preschools. Serve as a reliable communicator with families, early childhood teams, and partners, while participating in IEP meetings and ensuring compliance with special education law and best evaluation practices.
- Grades K–4 (1.0 FTE, 5 days/week): Evaluate elementary students, facilitate MTSS data team meetings, support school teams in the IEP process, and lead both initial and re-evaluation IEP meetings. Strong communication and a thorough understanding of special education procedures are essential.
Qualifications:
- Active School Psychologist license in Illinois.
- Experience with multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), functional behavioral assessments, and special education evaluations.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant laws, IEP protocols, and best practices for early childhood through high school.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to navigate and explain processes to families new to special education.
- Reliable transportation for travel between multiple sites as needed.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
