Step into a rewarding role supporting students in the Washington DC area as a full-time school psychologist. This contract position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact across two schools, with your workdays running from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. You’ll focus on assessment, consultation, supporting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and occasionally contribute to Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). While you may collaborate with social workers for counseling needs on an as-needed basis, you’ll have the support of dedicated educational diagnosticians, ensuring you can focus on specialized psychological services.
Qualifications and Experience Sought:
- Current Virginia Department of Education (DOE) Certification
- Active Virginia Psychologist Licensure
- Experience conducting school-based assessments and consultation
- Knowledge of FBA, BIP, and MTSS frameworks
- Comfortable working across multiple campuses
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Ability to initiate and complete timely credentialing requirements, including the Virginia Department of Social Services background check and TB test
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive psychological assessments for K-12 students
- Consult with educators, families, and other school professionals regarding student needs
- Guide and develop FBA/BIP strategies
- Occasionally provide support for social workers during counseling initiatives
- Engage as a valued resource within school teams, contributing to proactive student support systems
- Maintain meticulous documentation that meets district and regulatory standards
