School Psychologist in Dumfries, VA
Step into an impactful role supporting student success as a contracted School Psychologist in the Washington, DC area, just a short drive south of the city. This full-time opportunity spans the 2026–2027 academic year, with a rewarding schedule serving two school sites, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.
In this position, your expertise will be central in performing assessments and offering consultation services, while also lending vital support to Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP). You may occasionally collaborate with social workers on counseling initiatives and provide input as part of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), ensuring holistic care and guidance for students. With educational diagnosticians present in each building, your focus will remain on psychological evaluations and consultation rather than academic achievement testing.
Qualifications:
- Active Virginia Department of Education certification
- Valid Virginia School Psychologist license
- Prior experience in school-based assessment and consultation preferred
- Comfortable working independently across multiple campuses
- Ability to start and complete Virginia Department of Social Services background check promptly
- TB test clearance, as required in Virginia
Responsibilities:
- Conduct student assessments and psychological evaluations
- Develop and support FBAs/BIPs in partnership with school staff
- Consult with educators, parents, and support teams to address students’ behavioral and emotional needs
- Occasionally provide counseling support with social workers
- Participate in MTSS meetings as needed
