School Psychologist - Elizabeth, NJ
Make a meaningful impact supporting PK-8 students as a school psychologist in a close-knit educational community. In this contract position, you’ll provide essential psychological services, case management, consultation, and emotional support to a diverse student population. The district you’ll serve is characterized by its small size—about 900 students in total—allowing for collaborative teamwork and stronger relationships with faculty, families, and learners.
You will oversee a manageable caseload of approximately 45-50 students. Your responsibilities will cover case management, student testing, individual and group counseling, and you may also serve as the HIB (Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying) coordinator, contributing to a safe and inclusive school environment. The role spans the full school day from 8:15 am to 3:20 pm, so you’ll be able to experience the rhythm and energy of student life.
Qualifications and Desired Skills:
- Master's or Doctoral degree in School Psychology
- State certification or licensure as a School Psychologist
- Experience with PK-8 age groups strongly preferred
- Prior case management and evaluation experience, including behavioral and academic testing
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, families, and students
- Knowledge of special education laws, IEP process, and HIB prevention/intervention strategies
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive case management for a caseload of 45-50 students
- Conduct psychoeducational evaluations (approx. 25 annually)
- Deliver individual and small-group counseling services
- Support HIB coordination and intervention efforts
- Collaborate with educators, administrators, and families to develop strategies that promote academic success and emotional well-being
