Step into a pivotal role supporting students’ academic and social-emotional development in the vibrant Washington DC area, just 45 minutes south of the city. Take the lead in providing expert psychological services for two schools, shaping positive learning environments for children and educators alike. This contract position runs from August 11, 2026, to May 26, 2027, with a set full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. All work will be performed on-site; hybrid or remote assignments are not available.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid VA DOE certification and current VA Psychologist licensure are both required
- Proven experience performing assessments, consultations, and supporting FBA/BIP processes in a school setting
- Familiarity with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) frameworks preferred
- Comfortable collaborating with social workers and school teams, with a willingness to support counseling if occasional needs arise
- No academic achievement testing is involved, as every building has dedicated educational diagnosticians
- Must be able to initiate the VA Dept. of Social Services background check and complete a VA-required TB test promptly
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and deliver expert consultations
- Provide behavioral support and guidance, including FBA and BIP development
- Participate in MTSS-based planning and intervention as needed
- Offer occasional counseling support in partnership with school social workers
- Foster strong communication and collaboration across school teams
