School Psychologist in Stafford, VA
Make an impact supporting students' academic and emotional success as a dedicated school psychologist in the Washington DC area, just 45 minutes south of the city. In this full-time contract position (Monday through Friday, 8:00am-3:30pm), you'll serve two schools within a collaborative and resource-rich environment for the 2026-2027 academic year, from August 11, 2026, to May 26, 2027.
Your primary responsibilities will center around assessment and consultation work, functional behavior assessments/behavior intervention plan (FBA/BIP) support, and occasional Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) involvement. While supporting school counselors or social workers with direct counseling may occasionally be needed, your main focus will not include academic achievement testing, as educational diagnosticians are available in each building.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Virginia Department of Education certification
- Valid Virginia School Psychologist license
- Experience with school-based assessment, consultation, and FBA/BIP processes
- Capable of efficiently managing time across two assigned school locations
- Familiarity with MTSS is a plus
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychoeducational assessments to inform student supports
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on FBA/BIP and intervention planning
- Serve as a consulting resource to educators, administrators, and families
- Support data-driven decision making for student success
- Participate in meetings and provide documentation in accordance with school and state requirements
Please note: This is an onsite-only position, requiring a presence at assigned schools (no teletherapy or hybrid options available). Time-sensitive credentialing requirements will need to be initiated promptly, including a Virginia Department of Social Services check and a recent TB test.
