School Psychologist - Woodbridge, Virginia
Embark on a rewarding full-time contract opportunity as a school psychologist serving students at two campuses near the Washington, DC area—just a short drive south. This position offers the unique chance to make a significant impact through assessment and consultation, with a special focus on Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and occasional support for Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
Ideal candidates are experienced in working directly onsite in educational environments and are prepared to engage with students from diverse backgrounds. Academic achievement testing is not required, as educational diagnosticians are in every building, allowing you to concentrate on behavioral and mental health aspects of student support. While collaboration with social workers on counseling may arise, these duties are less frequent.
Key Requirements:
- Hold an active School Psychologist certification with the Virginia Department of Education (VA DOE).
- Maintain an active Virginia psychologist license.
- Able to begin promptly and initiate the Virginia Department of Social Services background check and a TB test as part of the credentialing process.
- Solid grounding in assessment, consultation, FBA/BIP, and MTSS.
- Willing to commit to a full-time schedule (37.5 hours/week) from 8:00am–3:30pm, working on-site only (no remote or hybrid options).
- Previous experience in a school setting strongly preferred.
Your Responsibilities:
- Conduct student assessments and provide consultative services for staff and families.
- Support the development and implementation of FBA/BIP strategies.
- Collaborate with school teams on MTSS processes as needed.
- Occasionally assist with counseling alongside social workers.
This position runs from August 11, 2026, through May 26, 2027, providing consistency and continuity for students and staff alike.
