Take your expertise as a School Psychologist to the next level by making a direct impact in a high school 8:1+1 self-contained therapeutic program. This contract opportunity places you at the heart of a team dedicated to supporting students with significant social-emotional and behavioral needs, where your skills in counseling, crisis intervention, and collaboration will be essential to student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and group counseling, utilizing therapeutic interventions targeting emotional regulation, coping strategies, and the development of positive social interactions.
- Work closely with classroom staff, related service providers, and families to ensure cohesive implementation of behavioral and therapeutic plans.
- Complete Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), develop and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and support administrators with behavioral planning and risk assessments.
- Provide immediate crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation, co-regulation, and—when needed—physical intervention in line with NYSED regulations and district-approved protocols.
What We’re Looking For:
- Current and valid NYS School Psychologist certification.
- Solid understanding of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, such as CBT and DBT.
- Demonstrated experience in crisis intervention, de-escalation, co-regulation, and the application of restorative practices in school settings.
- Proficiency in developing FBAs and effective BIPs.
- Training in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools (TCIS) preferred; willingness to complete all required district training in crisis intervention and physical restraint is essential.
