Make a meaningful impact by supporting high school students with significant social-emotional and behavioral needs in a dedicated 8:1+1 therapeutic program. Your expertise as a School Psychologist is essential in an environment focused on fostering resilience, improving coping mechanisms, and empowering students to reach their potential. As a valued collaborator, you’ll play a crucial role on a multidisciplinary team alongside educators, families, and fellow professionals.
In this position, you will:
- Deliver individual and group counseling to facilitate emotional regulation, healthy coping skills, and positive social interactions
- Collaborate closely with teachers, families, administrators, and related service providers to develop and ensure implementation of behavioral and therapeutic strategies
- Complete Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and design, monitor, and revise Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Assist with behavioral planning and perform student risk assessments in partnership with administration
- Provide timely crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation, co-regulation, and, when needed, physical intervention in accordance with state and district protocols
Key qualifications and competencies include:
- Valid NYS School Psychologist certification
- Proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic modalities, such as CBT and DBT
- Direct experience with crisis intervention, de-escalation, and restorative practices
- Demonstrated ability to perform FBAs and craft actionable BIPs
- TCIS training is preferred; a willingness to obtain district-approved crisis intervention and physical restraint training is required, as is the ability to implement these strategies in line with approved protocols
