School Psychologist in New Britain, CT
Exciting opportunity for a School Psychologist to make a meaningful impact at the elementary level beginning as soon as possible and continuing through the 2026-2027 school year. This contract position is ideal for compassionate, skilled professionals passionate about fostering student growth and supporting a vibrant school community.
As an elementary school psychologist, you'll work the school day from 8:20 AM to 3:35 PM. In this role, you’ll have the chance to support young learners by administering psychoeducational evaluations, developing and maintaining a caseload (currently around 20 students), and providing critical crisis response services. The role may pivot to focus solely on evaluations as needs evolve, offering diverse experiences in school-based psychological services.
Qualifications:
- Valid School Psychologist certification for Connecticut or eligibility for certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of administering educational and psychological assessments.
- Previous experience as a school psychologist, preferably in elementary settings.
- Ability to develop positive rapport with students, staff, and families.
- Strong crisis management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Flexible, collaborative attitude, ready to adapt to changing priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for students.
- Provide direct and consultative psychological services as needed.
- Develop, implement, and monitor student support plans in collaboration with educators and families.
- Serve as a resource for crisis response and intervention.
- Maintain accurate documentation and legal compliance with school policies.
- Potentially transition to a dedicated evaluator role as necessary.
