Embark on a meaningful contract role supporting high school students as a School Psychologist in the Detroit area. This opportunity empowers you to make a direct impact across four closely located campuses, including a unique position within a juvenile justice facility. With a caseload of approximately 120 special education students, you’ll serve as a critical advocate and resource, fostering academic, social, and emotional growth.
Your schedule will span weekdays from 9:00am to 2:30pm, totaling 27.5 hours per week, offering a balance between professional engagement and personal time. This position is itinerant, allowing dynamic collaboration and varied daily experiences as you move between locations—all just minutes apart.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid School Psychologist certification (or eligibility for Michigan)
- Proven experience providing psychological assessment and services to high school students
- Familiarity with special education processes and compliance
- Strong cultural competence and ability to adapt to diverse settings, including juvenile justice environments
- Skilled in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Exceptional communication and teamwork abilities
Responsibilities:
- Conducting evaluations, assessments, and observations for high school students
- Providing direct counseling and crisis intervention as needed
- Collaborating with teachers, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and monitor IEP goals
- Supporting students' academic, behavioral, and emotional well-being across all assigned campuses
- Offering expertise at one juvenile justice facility campus, addressing unique needs
