School Psychologist - Dumfries, VA
Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a School Psychologist supporting elementary and middle school students in a lively educational environment just south of Washington, DC. Starting August 3, 2026, through May 26, 2027, you’ll make a real impact by joining a forward-thinking district that values student wellness and comprehensive support. This full-time position averages 37.5 hours each week, generally working from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Your role centers on assessment and consultation, Functional Behavioral Assessment/Behavior Intervention Plan (FBA/BIP) support, and occasional involvement in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). Academic achievement testing is not required, as dedicated educational diagnosticians are present in each building. While the primary focus is assessment and consultation, there may be opportunities to collaborate with social workers for student counseling on an as-needed basis.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Virginia Department of Education certification
- Active Virginia Psychology Licensure
- Experience working in school-based settings preferred
- Strong understanding of FBA/BIP and MTSS
- Skill in assessment, consultation, and collaborative problem-solving
- Quick adaptability to new environments and caseloads
- Ability to travel between two assigned school sites in northern Stafford
Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychoeducational assessments
- Perform behavioral observations and develop intervention strategies
- Consult with educators, administrators, and families
- Support the implementation of evidence-based practices
- Complete all documentation in a timely, compliant manner
