School Psychologist - Portsmouth, VA
Make a positive impact supporting students as a dedicated school psychologist in the Virginia Beach area! This full-time contract position is ideal for a compassionate, licensed professional eager to collaborate with a diverse school community and help students reach their potential.
Working 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, you'll be based on-site and will be a valuable, visible resource for students, staff, and families. The assignment runs from August 31, 2026, to June 15, 2027, with flexibility in your school placements and caseload, which will be determined by ongoing needs. You’ll work with a range of age groups, providing support in assessment, consultation, and intervention.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Virginia Department of Education licensure required
- Active psychologist license in the state of Virginia
- Previous experience in school settings highly preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt to changing needs and support a diverse student population
- Committed to working onsite (not open to virtual or hybrid arrangements)
Your Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations
- Develop and implement intervention strategies
- Collaborate with educators and parents regarding student progress
- Consult on behavioral, emotional, and academic challenges
- Participate in eligibility and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings
- Maintain ethical and legal standards in all professional activities
