School Psychologist | Portsmouth, Virginia
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as an on-site school psychologist, serving throughout the full 26/27 academic year near Portsmouth, VA. You’ll be scheduled for 40 hours per week, working across 2-3 sites based on caseload needs, and every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred age groups or student populations. The district typically staffs seven psychologists and offers a balanced workload with opportunities for meaningful connection with your peers.
What we’re seeking:
- Hold or are eligible for state licensure/certification as a school psychologist
- Experience in school settings preferred
- Skilled in cognitive assessments, rating scales, and classroom observations
- Comfortable guiding and interpreting eligibility processes and meeting with interdisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
- Adaptability across multiple sites and varying caseloads
- Commitment to providing student-centered, data-driven interventions
Your impact and daily responsibilities:
- Partner with educational diagnosticians on assessment and achievement testing
- Interpret eligibility and support school teams through processes and criteria worksheets
- Conduct student evaluations, including cognitive testing and behavioral assessments
- Participate in child study, re-evaluations, eligibility, and manifestation determination meetings
- Contribute expertise during IEP and eligibility meetings
- Collaborate with related service providers, social workers, ed diags, and school teams
