Embark on a rewarding opportunity supporting students and school staff within a dynamic educational environment near the Washington DC area. As a School Psychologist serving two schools—one elementary and one middle—you’ll play a vital role in fostering positive student outcomes through assessment, consultation, and the implementation of effective behavioral strategies.
This full-time contract role spans from August 2026 through May 2027, offering you commitment and consistency throughout the academic year. Most responsibilities are on-site, with a potential for a flexible 4/1 hybrid schedule allowing one remote day per week. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current, active Virginia Department of Education Certification
- Valid Virginia Psychologist Licensure
- Experience with Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
- Familiarity with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
- Strong communication, consultation, and collaboration skills within school settings
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations in both elementary and middle school environments
- Must complete Virginia Department of Social Services background check promptly and provide TB test results as part of credentialing
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct student assessments and provide expert consultation
- Support FBA and BIP implementation, collaborating with teachers and staff
- Assist with MTSS initiatives
- Occasionally support school social workers with counseling as needed
- Participate in meetings and contribute to the development of student support plans
- Leverage presence of educational diagnosticians—no academic achievement testing required
