School Psychologist in Woodbridge, VA
Bring your expertise in school psychology to a dynamic contract opportunity supporting two schools in the Washington DC area. This role primarily involves assessment and consultation services, contributing key insights to Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), while collaborating with school teams and supporting Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) as needed. Although academic achievement testing is conducted by educational diagnosticians, your expertise will occasionally be leveraged to support social workers with counseling services. The caseload includes one elementary and one middle school in northern Stafford, offering a varied and meaningful professional experience.
Enjoy a balance of in-person collaboration and flexibility, as this position allows for a potential 4/1 hybrid schedule—four days on-site and one day remote per week once established. You’ll work a steady full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, starting August 3, 2026, through May 26, 2027.
Qualifications:
- Valid Virginia Department of Education Certification
- Active Virginia Psychologist License
- Recent TB test (required by the state prior to start)
- Must begin the VA Department of Social Services background check promptly
- Experience in K-8 school settings preferred
- Strong assessment, consultation, and behavioral support skills
Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychoeducational assessments and deliver actionable recommendations
- Participate in FBA and BIP processes
- Collaborate with educational teams and support MTSS initiatives
- Provide occasional support to social workers with counseling
- Regular communication with school staff and families
